January 2010: Happy New Year, everyone! Wow, it's been longer than I
thought since I have posted any new pics. Been a busy few months, let
me tell you. I've October 2009. Start of the busy season here in Arizona. Lots of craft
shows and such going on these days. I'm hoping to do many of them. Here
are some pics of marbles I have been working on lately. These are all
soft glass marbles, not boroscilicate. August, 2009. I'm back to my Major Minor Burner and it's working pretty
well, even with boro. I have also gone back to soft glass (I just keep
going back to that since it's so familiar to me). Here are some of my
new experiments and creations that are going to be sold at shows and on
Etsy. The leaf/feather pendants I'm making have 2 distinct sides, with
different looks (like 2 pendants in 1!), which you can see with the side-by-side
pics of the close-ups! July, 2009. Well, finallly got the Midrange torch up and running. Here's
some pics of it in action and some of the first Boro things I made with
it. Man, this thing is hot! I think I need a new studio now! :0) I have
3 concentrators on this thing, but I think I may go back to my Major Minor
for a bit, especially since I have some orders to get done. The Major
should still run pretty hot with 2 or 3 concentrators, so I may be able
to still experiment with boro when I like! June, 2009. OMG! Look what my wonderful husband got me for my birthday!
Isn't he the greatest?!? This is the Midrange torch which will allow me
to do bigger items as well as boro. The bad part is, that I am still waiting
for a couple of concentrators to come before I can use it. As soon as
I can use this torch and practice with it a bit, I will post some pics
of the stuff I have created. I guess I will need to dust off my old boro
rods!! FISHIES - what more can I say? (except that the third one is my red fish,
and that's a pic of it when it was still hot, right before going into
the kiln.) February, 2009. My Dad made me the coolest display for my future shows. I particularly wanted this for the Glass Craft and Bead Expo in Las Vegas, April 1st thru the 5th. I love the wood color and it shows my beads so nice. Now my only problem is making enough of my larger beads to fill this darn thing. The steps are 18" long and the display stands about 11" tall (not including the added business card holder my wonderful Dad put on the top). How Cool!!! I love it! Here's some pics of it, along with some of the beads I have been making to prepare for the Vegas show.
And here are some close-ups of some of the beads that I am diligently working on for my Vegas trip to the Glass Craft Expo. My newest ones are my "Jeannie Bottles" - kinda appropriate since that's my name, too! I stumbled on this a couple months ago when I was making a plain, stacked dot bead. It looked to me like the bottom of the "I Dream of Jeannie" bottle, so I continued to make it into one. The only thing that stinks about making these things, is that the darned theme song keeps playing over and over in my head. I'm not sure which will come first - either I will tire of making these and move onto something else or that I will end up being driven insane by that song! I also have some Liquid Swirl beads which I am still making and my Mountain Tree Beads, both with Cacti and with regular trees.
Here are some of my current beads I have been making as well as some
oldies (Dec 2008):
