Tips
and Tricks for Lampworkers:
Implosions: The
2 tricks to good implosions are patience and getting the flame to hit
the correct area to implode. Here's some pics from a tutorial I created
that will hopefully help!

Here's one I discovered
years ago, but some lampworkers I spoke with have not heard of. This bead
is a base of copper green glass, then rolled or spotted with iris gold
frit/rod and encased with clear. It gives a neat effect and can vary from
bead to bead - always giving a unique look. The pinks, tans, yellows and
blues will vary depending on the heat and encasing. BTW - I use Lauscha
clear for my encasing, so I am not sure if there will be varying results
if you use a different clear.

Color combos - Many of you may know these color combos, but here's some
things I learned over time:
Adding Iris Gold reduction frit or rod color on top of either Effetre
opaque brown or a transparent amber will yeild cool greenish/bluish/yellow
effects. These look really neat swirled. You can also experiment with
other reduction frits that are either labeled with "iris" or
"silver" in the name. These will react with either a base color
coated with silver (I use black a lot) or with the browns and ambers.
Here's a couple of pics using this technique.

Intense black has some neat effects also. Many may know of the webbing
effect it has on ivory, but this effect can also be achieved with other
colors. Effetre's Periwinkle and CiM's Canyon de Chelly are just 2 others
which this same effect will work. Here are some of my Shark Tooth beads
in which I've used the Intense Black effect:
